Identifying of diet selection by livestock is very important for grazing management of arid rangelands. To determine diet of sheep and goats in the arid rangelands of Yazd, direct observation technique (bite-count and time recording) were employed in a mixed herd of local herders. A least 6 animals (sheep and goat) were marked and chased from distance of 50 to 80 cm for the period of 15 minutes. The number of bits taken and time spent for the important range spent forms (grasses, forbs, and shrubs) were recorded for early, mid-, and late grazing periods. Factorial experiment of randomized complete design was used to compare different growth forms for each kind of animal in the three grazing periods using the counted bits and time recording. Diet variation were similar for sheep and goat (p<0.05). In general, the highest percent of bite-count and time recorded were related to brushes and there wan no any changes in diet selection during the grazing periods. Brush’s preference index was more than one but this index for grasses and forbs were less than one. These results show that the brushes have higher palatability. Similarity Index of diet selection by sheep and goat were more than 76%. Therefore, diet selection by sheep and goat are similar in this rangelands. Also, variation of counted bits and time recording were similar and Similarity Index by bite-count and time recording were more than 75%. However bite-count method is estimated by a limited tools and resources, therefore, it has preference to time recording methods.  }, keywords = {Diet selection,Direct observation,Bite-count,Time recording,Sheep,Goat}, title_fa = {تعیین رژیم غذایی دام با دو روش مشاهده ای شمارش لقمه و ثبت زمان مصرف در مراتع مناطق خشک (مطالعه موردی: مراتع ندوشن استان یزد)}, abstract_fa = {بخش وسیعی از مراتع ایران در مناطق خشک و استپی واقع شده است و دامداری و پرورش دام در این مناطق رایج میباشد. بنابراین بررسی و شناخت رژیم غذایی دام در مناطق خشک امری ضروری است. به‌ منظور تعیینرژیم غذایی گوسفند و بز در مراتع خشک یزد از روشمشاهدة مستقیم شمارش تعداد لقمه و ثبت زمان مصرف علوفه استفاده شد. به این صورت که حداقل 6 رأس از هر نوع دام (گوسفند و بز) از فاصله 50 تا 80 سانتیمتری از هر دام در یک گله محلی در سه دورة از یک فصل چرا (ابتدای فصل چرا- اواسط فصل چرا- انتهای فصل چرا)  در مرتع ییلاقی، علامت‌گذاری شده و در یک دورة زمانی 15دقیقه‌ای تحت ‌تعقیب قرار گرفتند. تعداد لقمه‌های خورده شده توسط دام  و زمان صرف شده بر روی هر گیاه به تفکیک فرمهای رویشی مختلف (گندمیان، پهن‌برگان علفی، و بوته‌ها) ثبت گردید. برای مقایسة ترکیب رژیم غذایی دام بر حسب فرم رویشی گیاهان، برای هر نوع دام در هردورة چرایی از آزمایش فاکتوریل در قالب طرح کاملاً تصادفی استفاده شد. درطول دورة چرا بالاترین درصد تعداد لقمه گرفته شده و درصد زمان مصرف علوفه برای هر دو نوع دام به بوته‌ها اختصاص یافت و تغییر در رژیم غذایی دامها در طول دورة چرا وجود نداشت. بوته‌ایها برای بز و گوسفند در کل دورة چرا دارای شاخص رجحانی بالاتر از یک بودند که نشان‌دهندة بالا بودن میزان خوشخوراکی آنها است. فرم رویشی گندمیان و پهنبرگان دارای شاخص رجحانی پایین و کمتر از یک بودند. تشابه بین رژیم غذایی دو نوع دام بالاتر از 76 درصد میباشد بنابراین رژیم غذایی گوسفند و بز در این مرتع براساس فرم رویشی گیاهان یکسان است. همچنین بین دو روش ثبت زمان مصرف و شمارش لقمه اختلاف معنی‌داری وجود نداشت (05/0 p<) و در طول دورة چرا بیش از 75 درصد تشابه داشتند اما چون روش شمارش تعداد لقمه با حداقل وسایل و امکانات قابل اندازه‌گیری است لذا بر روش ثبت زمانی ارجحیت دارد.}, keywords_fa = {بز,رژیم غذایی دام,روش مشاهده ای,شمارش لقمه,گوسفند}, url = {https://aridbiom.yazd.ac.ir/article_27.html}, eprint = {https://aridbiom.yazd.ac.ir/article_27_57b9e8ae48847c07d6f8173102345678.pdf} }
